FAQs

How do I know if I need therapy?

We often only consider therapy when we feel we absolutely need it to survive. While it is always good to seek help during extremely tough times, there is no rule stating that you must be suffering to seek therapy. Therapy can be a great way to care for ourselves during both good and bad times.

I’m not getting divorced. Is this practice for me?

Yes! Divorce recovery is just one of our areas of expertise at DCADR. Dr. Welch’s clinical interests expand across all life transitions, anxiety, family conflict, grief & loss, relationship concerns, and so much more!

Do you use a sliding scale with your fees?

Dr. Welch has partnered with Open Path Collective to offer discounted therapy sessions to clients with household incomes below 100k. If that’s you, and you’re interested in working together, please email Dr. Welch or apply to work with her via Open Path’s portal. There are additional eligibility criteria and limited spots available.

Do you take insurance?

DCADR does not bill insurance companies directly. However, clients who wish to use their coverage can obtain superbills.

What will we talk about in therapy?

Intake sessions (the first 1-3 sessions) often include questions from the therapist about you, why you’re coming in, and your goals. From there, it is primarily up to you to decide what to discuss weekly. Dr. Welch aims to help you identify what is most important to reach your goals but will not force you into a discussion of any topic.

Does therapy work?

Research suggests that 75% of people report at least some benefit from attending therapy. One crucial factor impacting outcomes is how well you feel your therapist “gets” you. Dr. Welch understands this and is always happy to help clients find the right fit.
